Electric Fur works with a perspectiveless void to create a series of deep surfaces, animated by waves of sensation and memory. Within a dual-screen environment, a series of female bodies are seen floating, fidgeting and convulsing through shifting states of energy. The performers’ denaturalized gestures become increasingly infected by the undercurrent of Jerome Soudan’s insistent sound design. You experience the work as a physical journey, creating your own mix between vertical and horizontal dimensions of space.

Carol Brown’s company, Carol Brown Dances which was formed in 1996 is renowned for its cross-artform collaborations with visual artists, photographers, film makers, architects and sound designers. The company’s work arises from an ongoing investigation into bodies, their histories and inventions, and the mediation of these through writings, film, digitization, buildings and sounds. Through a distinctive and eloquent performance of real and mediated bodily presences, this work seeks to unfurl a visceral poetics. Carol Brown is currently a NESTA Dream Time Fellow. Her most recent work, The Changing Room, is touring internationally and premiered at the Ludwig Forum, Germany where Carol was awarded the Ludwig Prize for Innovation.

A Capture commission

Capture (2001-2008) was an Arts Council England fund managed by PORTLAND GREEN^TM from 2004 until 2008. It commissioned original art works that challenged the concept of screen-based dance by exploring new relationships between dance and film, video, new media and installation. Applications were encouraged from both established and emerging artists practising in the fields of dance, film, video, new media, installation and other disciplines.
